Your Mobile Phone Giving You Headaches? Here's What You Can Do

Your Mobile Phone Giving You Headaches

Whether for work or play, mobile phones are a massive part of daily life. When you’re at the office, you can spend most of your day working with your mobile phone. If you work from home, you might find that the time you spend working on your mobile phone is even higher. Sure, the mobile phone makes our lives easier, but it can cause a big headache when it starts to malfunction. Here’s a list of things you can do to prevent your mobile phone from giving you headaches and getting your mobile phone to work again.

Water damage

Most of the time, we use our phones in engaging conversations, listening to podcasts, music, etc., and we like to place them in areas that we can easily access. This can lead to accidentally getting dropped into the sink, bath, toilet, or glass of water. Although more devices now offer water resistance, it is still not a standard feature.

For Android

Switch off your phone immediately. This shall avoid any spark inside the electrical components. Don’t charge up your phone. As a result of the water infiltration, your phone is already dead, and plugging a charger will simply aggravate the issue. Phone technicians at iChimp strongly advise that you do not use your phone at all. By operating it, the water is pushed in further, causing further damage to your phone. Use a silica gel; those tiny packets you find in packaged goods like shoes, or electronics, can absorb moisture. If you don’t have that handy, remove any removable features, wipe away any water on the surface with a kitchen towel, leave it sitting in an open space like a table or countertop and let it dry naturally before turning it on after a few days.

For iPhone

First and foremost, make sure your iPhone is removed from the water and turned off. Please refrain from checking whether your iPhone is still functional and leave it powered off. If your iPhone is inside a case, water may get trapped during the drop. Remove your iPhone's case and all other accessories, including the screen protector. Use a lint-free cloth to dry off your iPhone. Remove the SIM card carefully and avoid sticking anything inside the lightning and headphone ports. Now store it somewhere safe. Leave the SIM tray out of your iPhone; this helps the liquid inside to evaporate. Do not place your iPhone under direct sunlight; place it under shade and leave it to dry. Do not turn on until completely dry.

Unresponsive screen

If you begin experiencing difficulties with your mobile phone, you might feel tempted to throw it against a wall. However, there is no need to panic. Most problems are fixed with a simple restart.

For Android

Press the power button and let the phone turn off, but wait a minute or two before powering it back on. Press and hold the power button and volume up button (some phones use the power button and volume down button) at the same time; Afterwards, release the buttons after an Android icon appears on the screen; Use the volume buttons to choose "wipe data/factory reset" and press the power button to confirm.

For iPhone

The first step is to power your iPhone off and back on again when it first starts to malfunction, but it's hard to do that when your touch screen is unresponsive! Instead, you need to do a hard reset (Hold down the circular Home button and the On/Off (Sleep/Wake) button at the same time). Wait for seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen, and then let go. The device will be restarted and should then be fully operational.

Your Mobile Phone Giving You Headaches

Phone freezing and slows down.

The most common cause is an unresponsive app that takes up more memory than expected. One specific app or a few are causing the problem – removing them, or other unimportant apps can help matters. Another possible reason is your phone’s hardware age, but freezing is most likely due to software issues. The older it is, the more likely it will slow down as it copes with more advanced OS and apps.

For Android

Depending upon the severity of the issue, you may be able to quickly resolve the problem by deleting any unused apps and clearing out the cache on your Android. If your Android phone is slow, a system update may be necessary to improve its performance, although older devices may not run the latest software.

For iPhone

Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Hold down the Top button until the device restarts. You should continue to hold the Top button until you see your device go into recovery mode. For iPhone 8 or later: Press and hold the Volume Up button for a few seconds, then quickly release it.

Finally, we know how attached we are as individuals to our mobile phones and how essential it is to our everyday life for social media, texting, and more. It can be very frustrating when it suddenly starts to malfunction. The tips above are a few ways to help keep us from getting frantic when the screen is unresponsive, freezes and slows down, or falls into the water.
