Anthropic’s Claude Frontier Academy: $100M to Train 10,000

Anthropic launched the Claude Frontier Academy on October 2, 2026, committing $100 million to train 10,000 engineers by the end of 2027. The initiative aims to build engineers who can take enterprise AI projects from prototype to production, addressing what Anthropic describes as “one of the most pressing issues in AI implementation: talent.”

The first cohorts include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk, with sessions running in San Francisco, New York, and London.

How the Program Works
The Claude Frontier Academy combines intensive classroom training with real-world deployment experience. Participants begin with a four-day intensive, spending three days building a Claude-based system for a simulated enterprise and completing a graded practical on the fourth day. Engineers who pass earn a Claude Resident Engineer badge.

The second phase consists of a 12-week residency where engineers lead a real Claude deployment or use case inside their own organization, with support from Anthropic engineers. This hands-on approach distinguishes the program from traditional certification courses.

“Claude Frontier Academy trains people the way our own engineers learn, and we want those who graduate to set the standard for how AI gets built inside a business,” said Steve Corfield, Anthropic’s global head of business development and partnerships.
Access and Eligibility
Participation is by nomination, and organizations can request access through their Anthropic account team. The program is not open to individual applicants. Access runs through companies, with organizations nominating their strongest engineers through their Anthropic account team or Partner Account Manager, and every nominee must arrive with a named Claude project to lead.
Prior experience building AI agents is not required, though Anthropic says it looks for hands-on software engineers with strong fundamentals, a record of building with LLMs, and experience helping other people adopt AI.
Industry Context and Demand
The launch comes amid soaring demand for AI engineering expertise across multiple industries, with job postings for forward deployed engineers and other AI-related roles surging in the finance world this year, according to data from Draup.
Steve Corfield noted that no AI company has invested at this depth in building that talent inside its customers and partners. The program draws on the forward deployed engineer model popularized by Palantir, where engineers embed inside customers’ businesses.
A partner organization highlighted the practical focus of the program. “What I’m hearing from clients isn’t about certification counts or training volume; it’s about knowing firsthand how to solve real-world problems that create value to our clients,” said Geoffroy Pajot of Capgemini.
Strategic Implications
The academy represents a significant investment in creating a skilled workforce capable of deploying Claude at scale within large organizations. By training engineers from consulting firms like Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Deloitte, and McKinsey, Anthropic is building deployment capacity across multiple industries simultaneously.

The program structure emphasizes real-world results over theoretical knowledge. A certification typically ends with an exam, but here the exam is the entry ticket, and the credential depends on shipping something real inside the engineer’s own company.
