What are keys to online marketing funnels and ROI (return on investment) growth? That's what every marketer wants to know, right?
Ready to learn more about online marketing funnels and the different types of ROI you can and should aim for? Sales is a key metric but there are other types of ROI to look for! Let’s dive into the details!
Where will Mike be talking about Social Media Lead Generation this year? Come join me and other great speakers at these fine events!
Social Media Camp, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in April 25-26 (largest social media conference in Canada!)
Social Media Week Lima, Lima, OH, in June (largest social media conference in the Midwest!)
I dive into the strategies and current methods that can help you success.
What's working now?
At the top of the funnel, I use Facebook Ads and Google Ads to target the right audience. I use key demographics and interests to reach the right people. For example, on Facebook at times I target by job titles.
I've also been seeing success with retargeting ads, meaning once people are on the website one time I reach them with a Facebook ad to further build rapport and connect with them.
The keys in the top of the funnel are to find ways to reach the right type of potential customer.
The next key through engagement and capture/nurture is to build the know/like/trust relationship. This has specific ROI opportunities such as Liked your Page, followed you on Instagram and better yet is subscribed to your email campaign.
Through the know/like/trust process you build awareness, add value, remove barriers, and create a confidence in your ability to solve their problem/need.
Once accomplished, you can ask for the sale or they will contact you!
So sales is a key ROI metric...but not the only metric to measure! Other ROI metrics help you measure the initial success of your funnel and are good barometers to be watching. They include:
1. Converted leads
Which is the number of extra customers who actually purchase your product or service.
2. Sales Revenue
This is the most self-explanatory
3. Community engagement metrics
Is your community followership engaged and growing?
4. Website authority
Is your website growing in traffic and Alexa ranking?
5. Landing page conversion rates
Is your website landing page and form actually converting well, meaning that people are submitting it? It might need a A/B test to see if another layout works better.

I’m an Indiana Hoosier native where basketball is the top sport. Every team heads to the locker room at halftime to evaluate the first half and create an updated plan for the second half. That plan includes adjustments based on reviewing what worked and what didn't. The “halftime” is a key review point where the game stops, the team pulls away to huddle in the locker room away from the fans, and they come out prepared and ready to succeed in the second half.
That’s what this podcast is all about, taking the time to pull away for a bit to evaluate, learn, and set some strategies for your business to succeed in the second half. Join me by subscribing and let me be your “business halftime” to help you find great success going forward!
