Can CBD Help With Stress and Sleep Issues Caused by Work?

CBD has emerged in the past few years and it has been shown to have numerous potential positive benefits. People are taking CBD to help with pain, anxiety, business stress, appetite, memory and sleep. While we don’t have enough clinical studies done on humans to be completely sure if CBD can help with all these conditions, that hasn’t stopped millions of people around the world from turning to CBD. Many users have reported positive results when taking CBD oil drops, edibles, capsules and tinctures. The cannabinoid’s popularity is on the rise but can CBD help with sleep?

CBD as a Sleep Aid

CBD is one of the over 100 known chemical compounds in cannabis called cannabinoids. It has gained so much recent attention because of its effect on our bodies. All mammals have an endocannabinoid system in their bodies. This complex system is made up neurotransmitters called endocannabinoids, receptors called endocannabinoid receptors and enzymes. Scientists believe that CBD has an indirect effect on the receptors by inhibiting enzymes that slow the production of endocannabinoids.

The endocannabinoid system or ECS is thought to regulate bodily functions like mood, appetite, memory, inflammation, and the sleep wake cycle. CBD’s interaction with endocannabinoid receptors has the potential to mediate sleep.

Most people who are having issues sleeping are usually dealing with anxiety or pain. When you are experiencing one or both of these issues, getting a good night’s rest isn’t going to be easy. If experts are right, and CBD does in fact promote a healthy production of endocannabinoids, CBD could not just help the sleep wake cycle, but also other major factors people attest to sleepless nights.

If you aim to buy cheap CBD products with high-quality ingredients, make sure to read the labels carefully and know exactly what you're taking, as some CBD products can contain trace amounts of THC. Keep in mind that CBD is not currently regulated by the FDA, so look for products that have been third-party tested for quality and safety. Third party-testing companies point to evidence of products that do not align with what is promised on the packaging or the labels, which is why a lot of informed consumers go one step further than reading just labels on products when it comes to the CBD market.

Does CBD Help with Sleep?

In 2019, cannabis experts in Colorado did a study to see if CBD would help patients struggling with anxiety, sleep, and both conditions. Each participant in the study was given a dose of 25-75mg of CBD every day. Those who were experiencing mostly anxiety took the dose during the day. The patients suffering mostly from sleep issues were given the dose at night.

After only one month almost 80% of the subjects reported a decrease in feeling anxious. 67% said they were getting better sleep than the previous month.

While this study is promising, we still need more research. Especially using human subjects in a highly sophisticated clinical environment. The progress made in cannabis legalization in the past few years is sure to bring more research dollars allocated to CBD research.

When to Take CBD for Sleep?

The experts in Colorado had users that were concerned with their quality of sleep take the CBD at night. Most companies have users take their product 30 minutes or so before bed. The most important thing is to be consistent. If you are taking CBD oils or tinctures, make sure to take them every day.  It also helps that you calculate your CBD oil dosage first and start with lower doses before increasing it slowly.

Building up the healthy production of endocannabinoids in the ECS is the key. This is how you are going to really feel the benefits. Users that may take a CBD edible one time and report no benefits aren’t giving CBD a chance to work. This is just a waste of money and time. A CBD user needs to be consistent and patient. Because CBD works indirectly with the endocannabinoid receptors, it’s going to take some time.

One of the most popular ways to take CBD before bed is using CBD sleep gummies. They are easy to take, they taste great and if you have them next to your bed you will remember to dose every night.

Many people are taking CBD gummies to help with sleep disorders. We can’t say if CBD will help just yet, but things are looking good. More studies like the one done in Colorado will get us to a point where doctors can suggest CBD as a sleep aid. Until then, we just have to lay out the facts and let users decide if CBD is working for them.
